TH-73A training helicopter
Type: system
Definition
The TH-73A Thrasher is a single-engine, instrument-flight-rules (IFR) rated training helicopter used as the undergraduate rotary-wing and tilt-rotor training platform for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. It is fielded under the Navy’s Advanced Helicopter Training System (AHTS) and is intended to replace the TH-57B/C Sea Ranger in that training role. The U.S. Navy describes it as a derivative of Leonardo’s commercial TH-119, and Leonardo identifies the TH-73A as the U.S. military variant of its commercially available AW119-family aircraft.
