The F/A-18 Hornet (A/B/C/D) is an all-weather, twin-engine, carrier-suitable, multi-mission tactical aircraft designed to perform both fighter and attack roles. The A and C variants are single-seat, while the B and D variants are two-seat (with the B used primarily for training). For the legacy Hornet, the U.S. Navy lists the prime contractor as McDonnell Douglas and the major subcontractor as Northrop.
