Definition
An integrated, threat-adaptive, computer-controlled airborne defensive system that dispenses chaff, flares, and active radio-frequency expendables to enhance aircraft survivability against radar- and infrared-guided threats. The system assesses threat data received over aircraft interfaces and determines the appropriate countermeasures response. Enhances survivability of military aircraft by releasing expendable countermeasures to confuse or decoy incoming surface-to-air artillery (AAA), radar-guided missiles, radar homing missiles, and IR (heat-seeking) missiles.
